The association is all too obvious: what is simple is easy, and therefore not very appealing. The truth, however, is that simplicity is difficult: it requires commitment, seriousness, “purity”, humility.
Siriano Pierini describes himself as “a simple person” who tries to better himself every day. Undoubtedly, this is what has made him the serious, reliable craftsman he is today; careful, respectful, but at the same time bold and experimental.
He learned the trade alongside his father, then opened his own business in 1993. He is scrupulous, proud of being able to work cleanly, without creating disorder or mess. Often he is not satisfied with the paint shop’s ready-made shades; he seeks out the combinations for his own palettes himself, experimenting, mixing and trying to attune himself to the client: a work of research and empathy, through which the colours of the outside world burst into the rooms more vividly than ever.
Rediscovering the passion for drawing he had as a boy, Siriano adds to his “simple” painting work the decoration of interiors, designed and executed by himself: both figurative and abstract elements, for adults and children. No two decorations are ever alike; they always represent something unique, personalised, in tune with the temperament and wishes of those who commission them.
It is the year 2000 when Siriano (who is “setting up home” to get married) almost by chance discovers a new creative passion: that of decoration on ceramics.
Tiles, plates, centrepieces and other furnishing items are, thanks to his brushes, peopled with fish, birds and views of Lucca. The uniqueness of the work of this curious and brilliant craftsman becomes even more evident. Siriano continues to experiment with decoration and painting on different materials, trying his hand at new techniques and subjects: with the style that sets him apart, he explores a candid vedutismo but also vaguely fairy-tale atmospheres, often in grey and black tones, accompanied by short phrases invented by himself and inserted into the depiction. He never abandons, however, his first craft, which he carries on with the same dedication and passion as ever.
Feet firmly planted on the ground and head in the clouds chasing imagination: this is Siriano Pierini. And his “simplicity” is worth more than a thousand guarantees.
