After tea, here is hops Made in Tuscany, in the Plain of Lucca.
A story that begins in the countryside of Lucca, in Tuscany, in a territory that is a blend of history, nature and art unique in the world.
Just like that of beer, a blend of water, hops and cereals for one of the most ancient and appreciated drinks, even in the lands of wine.
The protagonists are three friends united by their passion for the brewing world: Nicola Baroncini and Marco Fornai, with a past as rugby players, joined by Gabriele Lorenzi, to launch the Radical Brewery project.
The timing is not the best: the agricultural company Il Bafolo opens its business a week before the 2020 lockdown.
The aim is the cultivation, production and marketing of beers that are radically Tuscan, radically artisanal, radically unique. Four hectares planted with hops and another four with two-row barley to be turned into malt thanks to an in-house facility, one of the largest and best-equipped in Italy, where cultivation, drying, pelletising and packaging are carried out. A beer, in short, that has the flavour of the territory to which it is linked throughout its entire journey, and that of sustainability, the last, fundamental ingredient.
The beers are four, two gluten-free and one in the blanche style made with selected madeinLucca grains.
At this point they decide to focus on building their brewery in the municipality of Porcari, with the cultivation of barley and hops in Altopascio.
“Good for everyone, ideal for a demanding public in search of character, quality and uniqueness. Excellent to accompany any moment with friends, they are perfect for aperitifs, lunches and dinners. A choice of passion and style.” So say the three on their website, and they offer advice on pairings, storage and serving temperatures.
